Eligibility Requirements for Chimney Seal Installation
To be eligible for a free chimney seal installation under the Victorian Energy Upgrades (VEU) program, you must meet the following criteria:
• Property : The property where the upgrade takes place must be in Victoria as residence with current electric, water and gas connection.
• Customer : The person who is authorising the upgrade must be 18 Years and over.
• Fireplace Condition: The property must have an existing unsealed wood fireplace or flue that does not have a damper.
• Environment: The property must NOT have a flueless space heater or an open-flued gas appliance installed.
• Limit : There are no limits on number of chimney seals.
• Prior Claim: You must NOT have claimed this previously upgrade under the Victorian Energy Upgrades Program.
• Product Selection: The chimney seal must be an approved product of the appropriate size, as listed in the VEU program’s product registry.
• Installation : The installation must be completed by an installer who is accredited under the VEU program.
Note:
Both homeowners and tenants are eligible for this upgrade. For rental properties, it’s recommended that tenants and landlords collaborate on the upgrade.
