Eligibility & Requirements for Reverse Cycle Air Conditioners
To be eligible for a discounted reverse cycle air conditioner upgrade under the Victorian Energy Upgrades (VEU) program, you must meet the following criteria:
Property & System Requirements
• Property Age: Your property must be at least two years old from the date of its construction completion.
• Existing System: The upgrade requires replacing an existing gas or electric heating/cooling(Rebate varies depending on type of existing system)
• Eligible Product: The new reverse cycle air conditioner must comply with the VEU program’s energy efficiency guidelines. (Rebate varies depending on the selected product)
• Location: The property must be a residential home located in Victoria.
Installation & Provider Requirements
• Accredited Installer: The installation must be performed by a qualified tradesperson who is working with a VEU-accredited provider.
• VEU Provider: You must engage with an accredited VEU provider to process the paperwork and apply the discount.
• Decommissioning: The existing heating system must be decommissioned as part of the upgrade process.
Who Is Eligible?
• Homeowners and Tenants: Both homeowners and tenants are eligible for this upgrade. For rental properties, it’s recommended that tenants and landlords collaborate on the upgrade.
• Income Requirements: There are no specific income requirements for participating in this upgrade under the VEU program.
• Prior Claim: You must NOT have claimed this upgrade previously for the property under the Victorian Energy Upgrades Program.
